Making Gil in FFXIV With Gathering

FFXIV players can find many ways to make gil but the best methods vary from patch to patch. Some require a large investment in melded gear and others are time intensive.

Gathering classes often find the most consistent gil making methods in Old Sharlayan with leves offering high profits. The trick is to understand how to utilize your retainers and the market board properly.

MMOGAH

Many of the gil-making methods in the game are gathering related but one of the easiest and quickest ways to make a lot of gil is to simply do leves. With a decent set of equipment you can easily do hundreds of Old Sharlayan leves a week and get a large amount of money instantly.

Another quick method is to sell materials that are in high demand on the market. These include ores, Skysteel Scrips (used to create Unique Dye) and food recipe mats. All of these sell for a good amount of Gil when sold to a player on the Market Board.

Keep in mind that the Market Board prices can vary from server to server and it is important to check your Market Board frequently. Also, always keep up to date with the new content as items that are new often sell for higher prices than older items that have been around for a while.

Retainer Ventures

Retainer Ventures allow players to send their NPC units out on expeditions in exchange for items and experience. These NPCs can be assigned a job, which determines what types of expeditions they will be capable of undertaking. Retainers can be leveled up to a maximum of their class and job level, but they cannot level up beyond this point. They can also be given gear to increase the chance of obtaining higher quality items.

Every venture assignment costs a special currency called Ventures. These can be acquired through the exchange of Company Seals, completing levequests, or from Grand Company quartermasters. The status of a retainer's ventures can be checked in the retainer interface.

There are several different types of Retainer Ventures, including Botany and Fishing. Each has its own base duration, with Botany lasting for one hour and fishing taking place for an hour. A retainer's equipment, which can be changed via its character menu, will affect the materials obtained in its ventures. For example, a Botanist Retainer will have a better chance of procuring high quality Botany resources if its player has gathered those resources previously.

Guildleves

Levequests, or Guildleves as they are commonly called, are repeatable quests that players can perform to earn gil and experience. To start one players must speak to an NPC with a Levemete> beneath their name in the city of their choice.

Levemetes are found in each of the major cities of FFXIV, and each has its own unique set of tasks for players to undertake. Generally, these are Tradecraft, Fieldcraft, or Battlecraft leves that reward a specific type of material upon completion.

However, a player should note that there is a limit on the number of open and completed Leves they can hold, so it's important to never let your allowances overcap. Furthermore, some leves require more intermediate crafting materials than others, such as Water Crystals (which are easiest to acquire as a Fisher or Miner through desynthesis), and this will increase the overhead costs of those quests. Treasure Maps

For those players looking to make gil through gathering, Treasure Maps are a great option. These maps allow players to dig up Treasure Coffers that contain rewards like EXP, gil, Tomestones, minions, crafting ingredients (including HQ), housing materials and medicine.

There are currently four different types of Treasure Maps available: Timeworn Leather, Timeworn Gazelleskin, Timeworn Dragonskin and Timeworn Ophiotauroskin. There is an 18 hour cooldown on each treasure map and players can only hold one of each type at a time.

However, the newest map, the Level 80 Timeworn Zonureskin Map has a chance to spawn a portal into The Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah which works differently to other dungeons in FFXIV.
