One person who knows the journey of recovery well is Eric, a former addict who spiraled into addiction after a painful divorce and the loss of his job. For years, he struggled with addiction and felt hopeless and alone.

But something shifted within him when he hit rock bottom one day. "I realized that if I didn't get help, I was going to die," he recalls. "I had pushed away everyone I loved and had nothing left to lose. So, I decided to take a chance and get the help I needed."

Eric reached out to an addiction treatment center and began a program that included counseling, support groups, and medication-assisted treatment. He also leaned on his family and friends for emotional support and learned how to build new relationships and connect with others in a healthier way.

The road to recovery was neither quick nor easy. Eric had moments of doubt and struggled with the cravings and setbacks that are common in addiction recovery. But he kept pushing forward, and slowly but surely, things began to improve.

Today, Eric is five years sober and is living a fulfilling life with his new partner and their two children. He works as a peer counselor at the same addiction treatment center that helped him get sober and feels grateful for the opportunity to give back and help others who are struggling with addiction.
