The 23-year-old has had an inconsistent rookie season but has struggled recently. Madden NFL 24 vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said the crew was negligent and should stop play to rectify the problem.

"In this case, when there is clear confusion regarding the status of the down, the play should have been stopped prior third down and the proper down should have been communicated to both teams. It should have happened regardless of the fact that Washington didn't have timeouts and it took just about two minutes."

Jay Cutler "week-to-week"
