Saumitra Singh, a passionate and vibrant director, has recently revealed his documentary project 'No Water Land'. This project highlights the extraordinary story of UK-based benefactor Shaz Memon and his non-profit organization 'Wells on Wheels', which is committed to the upliftment and education of young girls from Maharashtra, hindered from accessing fundamental education due to their water collection responsibilities.

Shaz Memon, the producer of the documentary, emphasizes that every child is entitled to chase their dreams. However, many girls in rural India are ensnared in the relentless cycle of water collection, an obligation they cannot forgo due to their circumstances, thus missing crucial education. This requirement, he notes, takes a substantial toll on these innocent young lives, depriving them of their childhood and leading to health issues.

Upon hearing the distressing tales of these girls who walk 3-4 kilometers twice daily carrying heavy pots for water collection, Saumitra Singh was deeply affected. The fact that these girls were missing out on their education and other growth opportunities, and that this situation exists just 150 kilometers from a bustling city like Mumbai, left a profound impact on him, leading him to document their lives.

Saumitra and his crew have completed their preliminary location scouting and the project is now moving into the pre-production phase. Expressing gratitude, Saumitra thanks Sanjay Kapoor for introducing him to the makers and supporting 'Wells on Wheels'. Singh is thankful for the opportunity to work on this significant social project and appreciates the guidance from Shaz Memon and the dedicated team at Nashik's 'Wells on Wheels'.

The documentary will be produced by 'Wells on Wheels' in collaboration with Shukar Studios and Shiprartz, with Saumitra Singh as the director. Hasan Khan joins the venture as an Executive Producer, while Abhi Raj Sharma is tasked with crafting the documentary spotlighting the hardships of these girls.

Saumitra Singh, known for his work with Naseeruddin Shah on the acclaimed short film 'The Wallet', which garnered over 70 awards, is also anticipating the release of his upcoming films 'Taxi No 24' featuring Mahesh Manjrekar and 'The House of Lies' with Sanjay Kapoor.
