Appointment of Governor of Kerala
Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar took the oath as the 23rd Governor of Kerala. The governor is the executive head of the state.
The office of the Governor is adapted from the Canadian model.
As per the Convention, he ought to not belong to the state wherein he’s appointed so that he’s free from regional politics.
Also, the president is required to consult the chief minister of the state concerned to ensure the clean functioning of the constitutional machinery of the state.
