Larvesta is most commonly encountered at levels 17-21. The best time to hunt for them is during the afternoon or at night. Use a Pokemon with the ability Flash or a Poketch app with Flash to light up dark areas of tall grass where they may be hiding. Larvesta has a 10% encounter rate, so it may take some time to find one. Be patient and keep re-entering the grass.
