Vitman Counselling is a Vancouver-based counselling practice specializing in couples therapy and relationship counselling. The practice is led by Spomenka Vitman, MA, CCC, who brings more than 20 years of counselling experience to her work with couples and individuals. Spomenka established her private practice, Vitman Counseling, in Bellevue, Washington in 2013 before returning to Canada and establishing Vitman Counselling in Vancouver in January 2026. She is a Canadian Certified Counsellor in Canada and a Licensed Mental Health Therapist in Washington State, allowing her to support clients within the jurisdictions where she is qualified to practise.
Couples therapy is a primary focus at Vitman Counselling. Sessions provide a supportive and collaborative environment where partners can explore patterns influencing their relationship and develop healthier ways of connecting. Couples may seek counselling for recurring conflict, communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, trust concerns, intimacy challenges, changing family dynamics or major life transitions. Therapy can help partners better understand one another's experiences and needs while developing practical strategies for navigating challenges together.
Relationship counselling may also explore deeper influences on how partners communicate and connect. Past experiences, trauma, family relationships, attachment patterns and cultural expectations can affect behaviours within intimate relationships. Identifying these influences can help clients gain greater insight into themselves and their partners while creating healthier relationship patterns.
Cross-cultural counselling is another important component of Spomenka's practice. Her personal and professional experience across different countries and cultures provides valuable perspective when working with couples navigating differences in cultural backgrounds, values, family expectations, identity or beliefs about relationships. Counselling creates space to explore these differences respectfully and establish approaches that support the relationship.
Vitman Counselling also addresses issues affecting women's experiences in relationships and professional environments. Counselling can explore changing roles, boundaries, identity, confidence, career pressures and relationship responsibilities, including situations where personal values may conflict with family, cultural or workplace expectations.
Individual counselling is available for clients seeking support with concerns such as trauma, anxiety, stress, grief, self-esteem and significant life transitions. Spomenka's work draws from evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment theory and family systems.
Vitman Counselling currently provides in-person counselling in Vancouver and online counselling for clients throughout British Columbia. Spomenka's Washington State licensure also enables her to continue providing appropriate services to eligible clients there.
The practice focuses on helping clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships, strengthen emotional connections and build practical skills they can use beyond therapy.
