Recovery of shares refers to the process by which an investor reclaims lost, forgotten, or unclaimed shares and dividends that have been transferred to the Investor Education and Protection Fund (IEPF) due to non-claim for 7 consecutive years, as per the Companies Act, 2013.
Investors can recover such shares by filing Form IEPF-5 with the IEPF Authority, along with supporting documents such as identity proof, share details, indemnity bond, and acknowledgment from the concerned company. After verification by the company and approval by the IEPF Authority, the shares are credited back to the investor’s Demat account and unpaid dividends are released to the registered bank account.
