Thermosetting Plastics in Modern Manufacturing: Benefits and Limitations

Thermosetting plastics, also known as thermosets, are plastic resins that irreversibly cure or harden after they have been heated and molded to the desired shape. Once cured, thermosetting plastics do not melt or deform with further heating or pressure. Some common examples of thermosetting plastics include epoxy, phenol-formaldehyde, polyurethane, silicones, melamine-formaldehyde, unsaturated polyesters and bismaleimide triazine resins.
