Is Golang Development Outsourcing Worth It for a Small Team
Weighing this for a while now and could use some honest opinions.
We're a small team building a backend system that needs to handle high concurrency well, and Go seems like the right language for it. Problem is nobody on our current team has real Go experience, so we're considering golang development outsourcing instead of trying to upskill internally, which would probably take months we don't really have.
Never outsourced a core piece of our stack before so a little nervous about handing off something this important.
A couple things I keep going back and forth on:
Whether outsourcing a critical backend service creates long term maintenance headaches down the line
How much slower internal upskilling would realistically be compared to just outsourcing this from the start
If you've made a similar call before, did outsourcing work out or did you end up wishing you'd built the skill in house?
