Southwest Airlines offers a very accommodating cancellation policy that allows passengers to cancel their flights without any fees up until 10 minutes before the scheduled departure. Regardless of the fare type—whether refundable or nonrefundable—cancellations made within 24 hours of booking can receive a full refund to the original payment method. For nonrefundable fares canceled after 24 hours, the amount is converted into travel funds for future use. These travel funds have no expiration and must be used by the person whose name was on the original ticket; however, certain fare types like Business Select and Anytime can allow the transfer of funds to another person with a Rapid Rewards account.
