Barium carbonate, whose chemical formula is BaCO3, is a compound that is obtained out of barium as raw material. Barium is a highly reactive material and is a prominent source of barium derivatives such as barium chloride. Barium carbonates helps in increasing the refractive index and lustre of glass. Barium carbonate is water-insoluble in nature and can be also used for the removal of efflorescence from tiles.
